booth088 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2014 I'm working on a 1960 scenario. I am deciding for the moment to just leave out the mess with the unpledged Dem delegates that went for Byrd in Mississippi, Alabama, and Oklahoma (there were parishes in LA that the same thing happened, but no electors went for Byrd). Here are the candidates I am using: Democratic Party Senator John F. Kennedy Senator Lyndon B. Johnson Senator Stuart Symington Fmr. Governor Adlai Stevenson Senator Hubert Humphrey Senator Wayne Morse Governor Pat Brown Governor Michael DiSalle (He won't be on by default since he was only on the ballot in his home state of Ohio) Republican Party VP Richard M. Nixon Governor Nelson Rockefellor Senator Barry Goldwater VP's (Other than all of the above Candidates) Democratic Party Speaker Sam Rayburn Governor Abraham A. Ribicoff Mayor Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Senator George Smathers Governor Robert B. Meyner Governor Albert Rosellini Senator Henry Jackson Republican Party Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge Sec. Robert B. Anderson Senator Prescott S. Bush Rep. Gerald R. Ford Attorney General William P. Rogers Governor William G. Stratton
booth088 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2014 Update: I have all but two Governors in as endorsers, working on Senators now. Have national endorsers done. All candidates and vp's are done. I also deleted American Samoa, etc from scenario entirely. Updated a couple things in the "issues." Hope to have this done for a test run by mid-week. booth088 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 I released an update. This is version 1.6 and includes some issue changes, a Johnson as VP fix, and some number changes. http://campaigns.270soft.com/2014/12/15/1960-kennedy-v-nixon-version-1-6/
Patine 35 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 What about Byrd? He actually took a few EV's...
booth088 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 What about Byrd? He actually took a few EV's... I have been trying to find a solution to the unpledged elector situation for a while. It's complicated because Byrd was never a candidate. Also, one elector from Oklahoma (A Republican elector named Henry D. Irwin) was a "faithless elector" meaning that he didn't vote as pledged. He pledged to vote for Nixon/Lodge but voted instead for Bird/Goldwater. Byrd's other 14 EV's came from Alabama, and Mississippi where those electors were unpledged and ended up going for Byrd/Thurmond. (Though neither was actually a candidate) What I will likely do is make a Byrd candidate under the party (Unpledged Democratic Electors) and make his VP Thurmond and probably leave Oklahoma's faithless elector alone for now because that entire state pledged for Nixon on election night and it wasn't until the electors actually voted to elect Kennedy did the faithless elector make that officially shift one EV from Nixon/Lodge to Byrd/Goldwater. I am going to continue to toy with this as well as adding Hass (The Socialist Labor party candidate) as third parties.
jvikings1 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 @booth Ya, that is how you do unpledged electors. So far, the game does not have faithless electors. I asked Anthony about it and he said maybe.
jvikings1 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 You really need to add the favorite sons because they had a big part in the election. Have them on by default. You have Pat Brown You need George H. McLain in California(only Pat Brown and George McLain with percentages) You need George Smathers from Florida(100% in Florida; only candidate with percentages) Add Michael DiSalle from Ohio Add Unpledged Delegates candidate Kennedy should not be on the DC ballot in the primaries because he did not apply for it. I would hope that you would add the potential candidates(that did not run) into it for what if scenarios.

I just published a large update a couple minutes ago with Unpledged Dems, adding Disalle and Smathers and fixing a couple primary ballots. Also tweaked a few colors. http://campaigns.270soft.com/2014/12/15/1960-kennedy-v-nixon/

booth088 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 Ok. I thought that I would just help if you needed it. It's appreciated! It doesn't appear that Alabama is working well yet with the Unpledged electors. I switched the state to PR from FPP in the general and it still appears to be acting as FPP...
booth088 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 I am having a problem right now with Alaska not reporting before election night is over... Working on fixing that and trying to continue to adjust the numbers. The game seems to be too easy to win by too much.
jvikings1 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 For the Democratic primaries, you need to add Unpledged Delegates(to the convention) as a candidate.
booth088 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 For the Democratic primaries, you need to add Unpledged Delegates(to the convention) as a candidate. I haven't decided how I want to deal with unpleadged primary delegates in both Republican and Democratic parties. That will probably be figured out in the next couple updates. I did just release v 1.8 which contains Mclain from California as a favorite son from California. Also fixed a few other percentage and ballot issues. http://campaigns.270soft.com/2014/12/15/1960-kennedy-v-nixon/

booth088 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2015 having an issue right now with New Jersey. The primary and general elections there are all screwed up in the current release. I am currently working on a fix for this.
booth088 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 Fixed the problem with New Jersey and released version 2.1 with that fix. http://campaigns.270soft.com/2014/12/15/1960-kennedy-v-nixon/
jvikings1 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 What was the problem?
booth088 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 What was the problem? While editing things I screwed up the code which prevented either party from getting a percentage in the general election. The problem should be fixed now in 2.1. The problem was in 2.0 so the previous "stable" version was 1.9. So 2.1 is the first stable version to include the improvements from 2.0. jvikings1 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 Will you be adding James M. Lloyd of South Dakota as a candidate? He won the South Dakota primary. Also, will you be adding Republican Unpledged Delegates for the Republicans? Unpledged delegates won the New Jersey and Washington D.C. primaries. You should also add Democratic Unpledged Delegates for the Democrats. The unpledged delegates won New Jersey in the primaries. Robert Meyner should probably be turned on since he did get delegates to vote for him at the convention. You should add Barry Goldwater as a VP choice for Harry F. Byrd since he got an electoral vote for VP. The space race still has John F. Kennedy mentioned, but I should not since he was just running for President. Also, for John F Kennedy, Lyndon needs to be the default VP candidate when starting in the general election and Harry Cabot Lodge Jr. needs to be the default for Nixon. You should add Martin Luther King Jr. as an endorser.
MrPrez9051 6 Report post Posted July 24, 2015 First off - booth088: I really appreciate all the work you did on making this scenario!I've made a copy of the scenario for my open purposes (so that I can update the issues, etc), and I can't go in to add VP's.I've tried both from the Campaign Editor (where I get a "List index out of bounds (0) error) and by actually editing the .xml file (though I admit I'm not much of an expert at editing the original files). Any clue how to fix this problem? Thanks so much!
