Thanks, but your issue sets are wrong. I'm going to ask my dutch friend for his thoughts, and I'll let you know.

Have you seen this article GOP?

http://www.nrc.nl/international/article2518799.ece/Dutch_politicians_campaign_on_a_shoestring

Between 7 to 9 million euros for the main parties, with the possible exception of PVV and TON. Outside of those parties, all other parties will have under a million euros.

So what do you think would be a good set of finances per party?

Here is what I have so far:

CDA 7 million €

PdVA 8 million €

VVD 9 million €

PVV 6 million €

SP 1 million €

D66 750,000 €

GL 750,000 €

CU-SGP 750,000 €

PvdD $350,000 €

Seems fine to me, it points this tight election race in the right direction.

How should I simulate Balkenende's unpopularity? I'm thinking of a negative event towards the end targeted against Experience 5 (which Balkenende has). Any other suggestions?

You could also try Balkenende's gaffe in the TV debate, which is quite near the end of the campaign in May.

All right so here are the possible events so far:

1) Greek Debt Crisis

2) Backlash against Turkey in EU

3) Balkenende's TV Gaffe

4) Dutch Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan

5) TBA

6) TBA

Any others?

5) Some sort of poll.

6) Something about the World Cup like Netherlands national team preparing for World Cup?

I want something relevant which will give a boost to a party or not.

Include something about Rita Verdonk being removed from Rutte's party. Also...are you including Verdonk's party in this scenario?

Surely the incumbent would have a poll surge if Holland win the world cup or something.

She is not included, as her party got less than 1% of the vote.

True....however, she is a major figure in Dutch politics and should be included. Just a thought.

How about these:

5) Stop Islamisation Of Europe holds massive rally in Maastricht!

6) Labour Pledges to defend education from budget cuts

And I think it's ready for beta-testing.

Starting % are:

CDA 19%

PdvA 21%

VVD 25%

PVV 12%

SP 3%

D66 6%

GL 5%

CU-SGP 5%

PvdD 1%

Undecided 3%

I may change the starting %s around, however- giving the SP and PVV higher starting %s, with the penalty going to the VVD.

First, good job! I've been waiting for a scenario that was outside of the usual countries, and this does it.

Now, the first problem I noticed was that during the election period, North Brabant results come in like 12 hours earlier, so your left waiting for all the others to show up. I assume you meant for NB to be closer to the others.

Second, there definitely needs to be a way to ramp up the Left, -- cause their severely underrepresented in this scenario, with the Socialist Party and GreenLeft parties usually getting no seats, despite having 25 in the House and 18 in the Senate in real life, and the fact that GreenLeft may just be apart of the upcoming government.

I just played a second game and they got a decent amount...hmm.

Since the game isn't perfect for the Dutch system some abnormalities are of course going to happen.

I'll keep playing and report anything.

Also, the PVV isn't a typical national conservative party, -- as they aren't super Christian/Socially Conservative. They could almost be described as socially liberal on a lot of issues, but protect that social liberalism against what they see as the radical conservatism of Islam.

Kind of like the Imperium Europa; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperium_Europa; in Malta...but less radical, and not in favor of a United Europe of course.

I put the PVV as CR on family due to Wilders' extensive courting of social conservatives, and the fact that most social liberals aren't exactly attracted to the party due to its hard-line on immigration and islam. Wilders is also critical of the nation's drug policies, and very right-wing on crime. The PVV is definately not comparable to this Imperium Europa Party (which seems like a joke), but it is comparable to Pim Fortuyn's movement or the UKIP.

I made some changes to the Socialist Party (I put them as R on Europe, which is closer to their position, and CL on Islam instead of L), which makes them a bit stronger. The left seems to do better now, but I'll consider increasing their support if this becomes a big issue.

I don't think you can compare the PVV to the UKIP, -- Wilders is also an Atheist, strongly supports Humanism and has used Islam's homophobia as one of his main arguments in support of branding it as something that is anti-dutch. UKIP is much more similar to the US Republican Party, which PVV certainly isn't anything like,

Although the IE thing may have been a bit off...it was just the first thing that came to mind.
