LOL! During my test this weekend and on "Election Night" I thought I had one of the narrowest victories ever, while losing the popular vote. Too bad there turned out to be widespread over and under voting on both sides. I had to go back in a fix the VAP for every state. Not to mention the ad cost coefficients and fundraising were not correct. I decreased TV ads to be about 7 cents per person and fundraising 450, was only 100. Check out the closeness of some of theses states. It was very nerve racking. I will post the results of my second attempt on the Election-play-by-play.

Close states

NH .2% / 401

VT .2% / 344

NY .6%/ 41,312

PA .2% / 5,407

MD 1.4%/ 17,510

OH 1.8% / 60,625

MO .6% / 10,661

NM 1.6% / 7,143

MT 1.4% / 3,320

AK .6% / 453

Any chance you could shoot me an e-mail with a download link whenever you release this scenario? I've been looking forward to a '72 game for a long time, even if it is an alternate history one!

I'm oakvale1@gmail.com, by the way.

Thanks!

Okay, I played through the scenario as RFK and won handily.

I beat Wallace and Chisholm in every state in the primaries (Florida was really close), and defeated Spiro Agnew easily in the general election.

Pretty good scenario. Haven't found anything wrong with it yet.

Good one. How did Spiro Agnew win the nom? I told myself if he won in my scenario that would be his sole term, for obvious reasons. I posted mine in play-by-play, but barely beat Rocky.

It was a close fought primary on the Republican side. Agnew won Iowa by the skin of his teeth, giving him momentum to win various other states and earn delegates. He won maybe a dozen states in total, and placed a close 2nd or 3rd in many other states.

I kept digging up scandals on whichever candidate had the momentum at the time, to keep the contest going as long as possible.

It was a virtual tie between Howard Baker and Agnew, with Rocky in a close 3rd. Shortly before the convention, Rockefeller dropped out. Agnew narrowly won the nomination and chose Baker as his running mate.
