    Issue Speechs

In the original P4E when you gave a speech, there was an issue specific headline. We no longer get that. We should be getting headlines like "McCain Expresses Views on Immigration" or "Obama Slams McCain on Iraq". Instead, we get the same type of message as when Barnstorming--no mention about what the speech was about. Is there ANY effect for a speech besides the headline momentum? Also, since a Speech is location-specific, does the speech have a greater impact in the state it is given then in the nation at large? For instance, would it be beneficial to talk about Social Security in Florida, or Immigration in the Southwest, or Outsourcing in Ohio?
  2. However you rate thier experience, McCain and Biden should have the same (probably 4) . Obama and Palin should be rated the same as well (3 or 2). As for Leadership, Obama and McCain can both be 4 (Biden/Palin 3). Make them all 3 in Integrity. As for Charisma, give Obama a 5, Palin a 4 and McCain/Biden 3

    Question for the 2008 Scenario

Report on the election mod: I can get the game to schedule two primaries. There are some issues though First, it appears that the AI doesn't consider the second primary. Also, on the map, the two sattes appear in white regardless of who won. Also, if you check the map, there is no indication of a second primary. What I have now isn't a real fix. Ideally, TheorySpark could come up with a patch allowing two primaries in a state or (a simpler method-just reschedule the Florida and Michigan primaries from January to May)

    Question for the 2008 Scenario

I think I have a work-around. I set up 2 more political units (called michigan2 and florida2) The only election event they have is the second Democratic primary. I need to test to see if it works the way I like
  5. Recently, there has been a move to give the voters in Florida and Michigan a voice in the Democratioc nomination. Those states had thier delagates stripped by the DNC because they held early contests. The P4E+P files handled this by setting the primary delegate count to 1. At issue, Is there a way to give a state two primary days? I tried to add a second Democratic primary event to Florida and Michigan and I got an error. Is there a way to address the changing status of the Democratic nomination contest of 2008?
  6. The candidate that wins an early primary gets a favorable news story (with a certain + value momentum) Is there a way of changing how much of a bump you get? It seems that the Iowa/New Hampshire contests don't get the same amount of bump that the do in the real world. Is there a place to set these values? Also, some candidates get momentum for doing better than expected in a primary (That would only apply to Iowa and New Hampshire) Right now only the winner gets the momentum(regardless of how narrow the victory)
  7. Thank you for your feedback. A few questions: Where did you find the home state information for Whitmore, Bennett and Prescott. (Marshall being from Iowa, I saw on Wikipedia). VP candidate Levinson was the Jeff Goldblum character from the movie. WRT Garnder, IIRC he was just giving a speech in Salt Lake City prior to arriving at the compound (not necessarily where he was from). I placed him in Washington state because he was played by actor Ray Wise who is best known for the role of Leland Palmer in the TV series Twin Peaks Do you know where I could find better pictures?
  8. This scenario features several Presidents from TV and movies. The political red/blue trends are similar to both the real world in 2004 and my 2006 WestWing scenario. Anyway here are the candidates Democrats: Jed Bartlet (West Wing) (default) David Palmer (24) Matt Santos (West Wing) Dave Kovic (The movie 'Dave') Republicans: James Marshall (movie 'Air Force One') (default) Thomas Whitmore (movie 'Independence Day') Charles Logan (24) There was a fair amount of guesswork involved, but it should be interesting. Feedback is always appreciated
  9. Hello, all I have finished a Primaries scenario of the 2006 Presidential election from the TV series "The West Wing" This is an updated version of my scenario "Santos vs Vinick", which handled this election in the original P4E. The scenario has the following candidates Democrats: Matt Santos Robert Russell John Hoynes Ricky Rafferty Eric Baker (gen election only) Republicans Arnold Vinick Rev Don. Butler Glenallen Walken

    Problem with Issue Speeches

It seems that when I give an issue speech, it is not reported in the paper, nor does it seem to have any impact on momentum. This is during the General Election. I do occasionally get a message like "Kerry Meets with Voters in {Wherever}" -- the same kind you get when barnstorming. Looking at the Momentum, there is no change in the issue section. I don't get headlines like "Kerry Outlines plans on Social Security" Or "Kerry Slams Bush on Iraq". We got things like that in the original version of P4E. What is wrong with the Policy Speeches and how can they be fixed

    Comment and Question

I have a question about Crusaders. In particular is there a way to have some "party-wide" crusaders that are available to any candidate, but only in the General Election. For example an incumbent President might not take sides in the Primaries, but would be a Crusader for the nominee in the General Election. Suggestion for Election Night. There are two numbers for each candidate. Right now the small number is the number of EV in states that have been called, and the large number is the number of EV in all states where the poll have closed. It would be better if the large number was the "called states EV"

    Endorser Bug

I have encountered an odd bug with the Endorsers. I am creating a scenario the main Republican candidate and all of the Democrats are pro-choice and one of the Republicans is strongly pro-life. So I created a pro-choice Endorser with "party_stance" pointing to Democrat and the leader_stance pointing to the main Republican. What happens is that all Democrats get the 25 point edge (as they should) but so do ALL of the Republicans-not just the main Republican. It APPEARS to happen to everyone after the leader mentioned in "leader_stance" When I set up the pro-life endorser, it works correctly (I set leader-choice to the pro-life guy and he gets the 25 point edge-as expected) BTW are there another terms besides "leaning" that can be used?

    Bug Report and a question

I am working on a custom scenario and have com across a strange bug with the Endorsers. In my scenario, the lead Republican and all of the Democrats are pro-choice and one of secondary Republicans is pro-life. Do handle this I created a pro-choice endorser and gave set party preference to Democrat and Leader preference to the pro-choice Republican. When I use the main Republican, both him and any Democrat get 25 points toward the endorsement (as they should) . The problem is ANY Republican gets the 25 points. The leader preference appears to flow down, the points go to any leader lower in the list to the one who has the preference. Does anyone have any ideas? The question involves Crusaders. There are some Crusaders that would only apply to specific candidates (such as potential First Ladies) There are others that would apply to any of the Candidates, but would only support one of them. In addition, many of those "party-wide" Crusaders would only become active in the General Election (for instance an incumbent President might not support nayone in the Primaries, but would support the nominee) One way to do this would be with Endorsers. Is there a way to produce a Crusader from an Endorser ?

West Wing - Bartlett Term 1

I wrote the original Santos vs Vinick (2006) scenario. I am mostly finished with the Primaries version of the scenario. For the Democrats, I have Santos, Russell, Hoynes and Rafferty (with option for Baker in the general election). For the Republicans, I have Vinick, Rev Butler, and Walken. The scenario may need some adjustment, but it is mostly done.
