I’ll double check. That would be my typo because I’m sure it says turn on the card. But you’d be playing a card rather than discarding. If you don’t have a card to play you’ll have to burn the coalition building card last turn. I’ll check the rules on discards too.

The reason we did as such was the wording on the google sheets, where it says "term", because we are in the next term already with the election of Jefferson. If the rules say otherwise, can we have the option to discard a different card? It would feel kind of unfair, not that I want to make a super big deal out of it.

They only last until the end of the turn. Each turn begins with the issue phases. I’ll double check when I get home to see if I’m wrong. Maybe @Actinguy has the rules handy.

1/7 -Manchin Campiagns in Des Moines Iowa- "This race is rigged. One way or another the political elitists are going to try and make sure Iowa doesnt get someone strong on Ethanol. As you can see from the fake polling data, on both sides, no one that has signed my ethanol pledge, which is only me, is leading in Iowa, yet I draw more of a crowd than they do when they come through." -Joe Manchin Campaigns in Carson City Neveda- 2/7 "Republicans amd Democrats both talk about cutting spending, yet I am the only person in the race to ever do it. I am also undefeated. Carly already lost a race and a job and my supporters just keep promoting me, Dick Cheney is goofy and Rand Paul is probably not actually a Republican."

Ok, that's enough votes to pass it unless @Agent B is going rogue. Otherwise, I'll update the excel sheet and we can kick off the next election shortly!

The matter moves to Congress: @Woot shall we spend $52 million to make both the Revolutionary War Veterans and the speculators who preyed on them whole once more? You have 19 votes. Needs 30 to pass, unless anyone uses cards or influence to get more votes.

'Tis shameful our veterans have been placed upon the backburner so long. Not only shall I 'rouse the congress at once to cut cheques quickly for those brave men to whom we are greatly indebted, but I offer enduring assistance to postmaster @Leuser towards licking the stamps and envelopes until all have been repaid!

    Julian Assange arrested

Still, it comes down to charges to protect secrets whose existence makes the U.S. Government in a state of high treason and sedition, corruption and contempt, and betrayal of their own people and violating the Constitution by which they function, and hiding those facts from their own people by slapping on a "classified" label. Do YOU believe that, in these cases, Assange, or Snowden or Manning, for that matter, are the REAL criminals here, is pretty much the question I'm asking?

I cannot in good conscious allow these honorable men who fought so bravely for our revolution go a day more without paying what America is indebted to them. I call upon Secretary Morris @Agent B to bring this issue before congress and offer my personal influence to ensure it is heard. I would also like to fill my remaining cabinet positions at this time. I would like to offer Gerry the position of Secretary of State and Ames @Woot the position of Secretary of War. (I believe that wraps up all my appointments)

Issue #1 @Herbert Hoover Hand of time: Pres. Thomas Jefferson dies from shock after hearing of the following event. Martin Van Buren is now president. A slave rebellion led by Nat Turner is freeing slaves and killing slave owners in the process. Southern governments are demanding that the new president acts.

Ok. Assuming @Shamilton is in favor of his own repeal proposal, the measure shall pass. Income drops $10 million, but you still project a profit of $40 million by the end of next year. In fact, despite all the craziness with Europe, you expect to leave your successor a whopping $113 million for future emergencies. The financial state of the union is secure! And word has gotten out. As you close out your final months in office, you receive an unexpected visitor from your past. Hercules Mulligan, your old friend and fellow Revolutionary War Hero. And in fact, that's what he's here to talk to you about. During the revolutionary war, soldiers were payed in war bonds -- which weren't actually accepted as payment anywhere. With the Continental Congress literally printing it's own money but with no actual source of income back then, and the colonies printing their own kinds of money as well, and nobody in charge of any of it, the whole system was a mess -- back before Washington was elected President and young John Quincy Adams sorted through it and fixed everything as our first Secretary of the Treasury, of course. But there's one matter that was never settled -- the Revolutionary Soldiers' war bonds. In fact, most of those soldiers have since given up on ever getting the money truly owed to them, selling the debt instead to speculators who paid pennies on the dollar with the hope that the war bonds will eventually be worth something...even if it's not the full value printed on the certificate, they paid the soldiers so little for these currently worthless pieces of paper that any price at all will likely represent a significant profit to them. But there are some soldiers out there...perhaps the truest of the Patriots, like your old friend Hercules Mulligan...who still expects that America will one day live up to her word. What say you, President Hamilton? Is it time that you finally did right by these loyal soldiers? Or is this just money down the drain for a war that has already been won -- with most of the money going not to the soldiers, but to the speculators who took advantage of the situation? A word on "tension". Currently, tension is zero. Should tension reach 5, the game will automatically end in Civil War. (Unless I buy the sequel. I "think" maybe there's a way for the game to continue in that scenario, actually playing out the Civil War, but I don't actually know yet. I was planning to ask you guys at the start of Era B whether you want to keep playing long enough for me to order the sequel as well. (Current game automatically ends around the 1860s. I believe the sequel continues into the 1920s or so. But for now -- tension +1 would mean one step closer to the game automatically ending.) What say you, @Shamilton?
